Cable certification testing is a mandatory quality step in any compliant structured cabling installation. Using a calibrated cable analyzer — most commonly the Fluke Networks DSX-600 or DSX-8000 — the technician measures each installed copper channel against the ANSI/TIA-568 performance parameters for the specified category. Parameters include insertion loss, NEXT, PSNEXT, ANEXT, return loss, propagation delay, and delay skew. Test results are stored in the tester’s memory and exported as PDF or CSV reports. Only runs with all parameters passing are accepted.
