An IDF buildout establishes the floor-level telecommunications infrastructure required to serve all network-connected devices on a floor or zone. It includes: relay rack or wall-mount rack installation; Cat6 or Cat6A patch panels for all horizontal cable terminations; a fiber LIU for the backbone fiber connection to the MDF; horizontal and vertical wire management hardware; grounding and bonding per ANSI/TIA-607; and complete ANSI/TIA-606 labeling. IDF buildouts occur in new construction, renovation projects, or as standalone upgrades when existing IDF infrastructure is inadequate.
